First though you will need to access the Demon Compendium which is unlocked when you complete the first few story quests in Ginza and the Great Underpass of Ginza. Not all demons can be recruited or fused and in order to complete your Demon Compendium you will need to evolve them. These areas will be marked on your map by a green circular icon, as will the door that leads to them. To remove the actual curse you will need to speak to the Lady of the Fount at the Fountain of Life and choose the 'Remove Curse' option. You should therefore stock up on items to remove debuffs since it's often more efficient than packing lots of healing items. Once you have progressed further into the game the risk of getting cursed mid-dungeon increases and will cause you problems if it happens. Most of the early game Magatamas will only offer beneficial outcomes so make sure you take advantage of their perks.
This is a gamble, since letting it run wild can result in your full party being healed but can also hit you with a nasty debuff in the form of a curse. You will be given the choice to allow it to continue or not. Once you have earned enough experience points to level up you will receive a notification informing you that the Magatama you have equipped has begun to act violently.
As you progress through the game you will gain access to new Magatama, and it is important that you experiment with them, so you know how to use them to take advantage of different foes. As you level up Magatama will grant you more powerful abilities and will determine what types of attacks you are strong or weak against. Magatama in Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD is a parasite your character is imbued with that grants different skills and stats, it also affects their strengths and weaknesses. You can keep track of the different phases of Kagutsuchi by looking in the top-left corner of your screen, and it is important that you do so. You will also be able to sacrifice more demons at the Cathedral of Shadows to increase the power of the demons you are fusing. The fuller Kagutsuchi is, the more damage demons will do during battle and your chances of getting a rare item from a treasure chest will increase substantially. This will change when it is the Full Moon Phase, during this time demons will be more aggressive and less likely to negotiate or let you run from a battle. Kagutsuchi acts like a lunar cycle that starts from the New Moon Phase, eventually becoming a Full Moon, then reverting back to a New Moon.ĭuring the New Moon Phase demons are easier to negotiate with and more likely to join your party.
The post-apocalyptic world of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remastered is dominated by Kagutsuchi, a celestial being in the center of the Vortex World who radiates energy that affects several mechanics in the game.
